Liz Klein is a Learning & Development Coach and Consultant—learner-focused, solutions-driven, and armed with knack for exposing and shining a light on talents some people don’t even know they have. Born and raised in Montreal to Portuguese parents, she was fortunate to have learned three languages by the time she was seven. Always intrigued by the origin of languages, she studied Languages & Literature at Dawson College in Montreal, before landing her first “real job” at Delta Airlines. There she spent seven years in a variety of training and leadership roles before making the move to beautiful British Columbia. Once in BC, she joined Rogers Communications and continued to pursue roles that allowed her to teach, guide, mentor and lead employees to not only become high performers, but to be the owners of their success. After nine years with Rogers, Liz decided it was time to “stretch”. She joined FortisBC (then Terasen Gas) during a time of enormous change. The organization was not only undergoing a major merger to become Canada’s largest utility company, but they were a year away from opening their customer service centres in Burnaby and Prince George. Hired as an instructional designer and facilitator, she and her team partnered with subject matter experts, business analysts and leaders from across the organization to create and deliver the training programs that would be required to onboard over 250 new employees. She eventually became the Manager of Talent Development—leading a dedicated team of leadership development managers and learning specialists. The team’s mission was to make learning and development at FortisBC accessible, personalized, and whole—believing that high performance and success is more than just about your technical skills; it requires leadership, self-awareness and great communication skills. In early 2016, Liz decided she missed doing the work that she was leading her team to do and was ready to reach a wider audience. She started eKlein Learning and Development Solutions, and as a testament to her integrity and ability to foster positive working relationships, FortisBC became her first client.
